Case Studies

RFQ Line has helped OEMs, Contract Manufacturers and Distributors meet a variety of purchasing challenges. Below are several of our recent success stories.

19% overall cost savings while reducing vendor base.
Major Midwestern (U.S.) insert molder purchases a variety of screw machine parts from multiple vendors. Parts have been in production for about ten years. Buyer seeks to reduce supplier base to a single source that can meet current prices and provide just-in-time delivery. Upon review of inquiry, RFQ Line invites, among others, an affiliate manufacturer in the midst of a major plant expansion to bid the package. Timing and direct access to a broad base of internal information produce desirable results for both the customer and manufacturer.

Rapid response helps keeps new product launch on schedule.
RFQ Line was able to step in at the last moment and provide a viable quote on a critical die-casted component. We were able to assess the project, consult with several affiliate manufacturers and ultimately submit a competitive quotation within 48 hours. Casting facility recently passed on-site quality audit and stands ready to take on production responsibilities.

20% cost savings proposed by QS-9000 registered Asian manufacturer.
North American based second tier automotive supplier opts to investigate international sources of custom rubber molded components and complete rubber to metal assemblies. Primary objective is cost reduction. RFQ Line submits inquiry to affiliate manufacturers on three continents. Four separate manufacturers bid the package. Proposed cost savings range from twelve to twenty percent. Lowest bid is submitted by a long time supplier to Asian and European automotive concerns seeking to penetrate U.S. markets. RFQ Line proposes to provide local warehousing and just-in-time delivery to customer. Pre-production approval process is underway. Both parties reap benefit.

Medical Device OEM contracts with Plastic Injection Molder for product development.
Global supplier of disposable medical devices seeks highly specialized plastic injection molder to help develop and ultimately mass produce new device. FDA approved clean room molding and assembly is required. A high level of confidentiality must be assured. RFQ Line arranges several consolatory meetings between the OEM’s project engineers and key contacts within an emerging leader in cutting-edge molding technology. Extreme design features had repeatedly resulted in “No Quote” responses from numerous molders. To date, samples have been approved and project has advanced to trial stage and within budget.

Highly responsive supplemental supplier lends critical support to customer.
Finishing and assembly plant located in Mexico seeks reliable source to machine a variety of castings and forgings on short notice. Capacity and breakdown issues require responsive action in order to avert potential line stoppages. RFQ Line invites bids from several affiliate manufacturers within close proximity to the customer, one of which is ultimately named as an approved vendor. In addition to being cost-competitive, vendor provides direct transportation, dedicated production equipment and seven day, three-shift availability. Increased efficiency has prompted several “temporary” outsourced operations to thus far become permanent. A true win-win situation.
